Program Management

(and project management)

I excel at aligning and integrating diverse projects, resources, and stakeholders into cohesive programs, while monitoring complex risk profiles.

I’m dedicated to ensuring that program objectives harmonize with organizational strategy and vision, that project deliverables form a unified and consistent whole, and that program benefits are not only realized, but also quantifiable.

My commitment to program alignment and integration extends to establishing and maintaining strong governance and oversight mechanisms, such as steering committees and reporting systems, which serve to monitor and enhance program performance and quality.

Amazon Social Responsibility Editorial Calendar

Program Overview

The Amazon Social Responsibility Editorial Calendar is a pillar of the company’s strategy for ensuring suppliers comply with Amazon's standards as well as local and international regulatory obligations.

The calendar represents a comprehensive annual roadmap, encompassing all content and training assets. As the leader of this program, I was entrusted with several responsibilities, necessitating extensive cross-team coordination, research and data analysis, and meticulous resource planning.

Challenges

The primary challenge was to create a dynamic and responsive editorial calendar that not only addressed Amazon's ever-evolving compliance requirements, but also aligned with the diverse needs of Amazon’s global supply chain. Understanding the unique risks and compliance needs of suppliers and Amazon businesses across different regions and industries was a complex strategic endeavor.

Solution

I established the program by creating a working group made up of members of our global engagement and business engagement teams. To identify content and training topics, we analyzed data from Amazon's supplier audit program, performing risk calculations to prioritize issues and conducting listening sessions with Amazon businesses. This data-driven approach ensured that the topics addressed were not only relevant, but also aligned with our risk assessment criteria.

Our process involved creating a comprehensive topic and training needs list, taking into account region- and industry-specific requirements. For instance, we tailored content to cater to manufacturers in China, India, and Vietnam, vendors in the Middle East, and suppliers in Latin America.

In addition, my role focused on resource allocation. I balanced internal and external resources, incorporating budgets, availability of subject matter expertise, production companies, and translation services. This planning allowed us to map out a year-long calendar with clear production, development, and deployment timelines, ensuring stakeholder transparency.

Beyond these responsibilities, my work extended to crafting customer personas using in-depth research to identify commonalities in the risks and needs of diverse customer groups. This work enabled the creation of learning journeys, in which I mapped out the touchpoints necessary for each group to gain the knowledge essential for compliance with Amazon's Supply Chain Standards.

Outcome

The Amazon Social Responsibility Editorial Calendar is one of the primary mechanisms for ensuring suppliers understand the specific actions they need to take to meet their contractual obligations to Amazon.

The content produced each year builds supplier awareness of the standards and encourages positive behavioral changes - this means that Amazon can go beyond simple check-the-box training to drive outcomes that protect the dignity of workers and build sustainability supply chains.

This program is ever evolving in response to changing regulatory landscapes, and my leadership and strategic vision ensures Amazon has the flexibility and nimbleness to proactively enhance compliance and social impact.
